Can a doctor help with my infected extraction site?
I got two of my molars extracted 4 days ago and in the last few days, my gums around the extraction site have been very sore, I have had bad-tasting leaking from the affected area and bit of yellow that come out and smell. I haven't done anything 'bad' since my extraction. I have brushed my teeth carefully, rinsed with salt water and kept to soft foods. I'm in so much pain on and off and will be trying to get an appointment at my local dentist tomorrow to hopefully get on some antibiotics. However, because my dentist is quite busy, there is a chance that I won't be able to get booked in, but I'm only 17 and cannot really afford to be paying for an emergency dentist. If I were to go to a doctor, would they be able to write me an emergency prescription for this, and if not, what's my best option (because waiting is just excruciating and I'll have to wait another 2 weeks before my next scheduled appt)?

Call the dentist that pulled the teeth and tell him what is going on. They will usually work you in and may give you a prescription for antibiotics without charge or at a minimal charge. I suspect that the local dentist will tell you this very thing. I also don't believe a doctor will do anything for you. Unless you have insurance, a doctors visit will be much more costly.

you need to call the dentist or doctor who did the extraction. sounds like impacted they can pack it with meds and help it heal faster and stop hurting. just something that happens sometimes.
