How much damage to muscles will walking several miles 2 days in a row cause?

I know you have to rest in order to repair muscles and get stronger but what if you walked 4 miles on mostly even ground one day then went on a 7 mile hike the next with good weather conditions. I'm a 20 year deal female who's pretty healthy and just asking as I have to walk home from college on Thursdays but every Friday I go hiking . Will I be OK if I just rest up the weekend?

I walked 5-9 and a half miles everyday a while ago to lose weight. I got so bored of that so I stopped and didn't want to hurt myself. Even though the next day at noon I was ready to go walking again and my legs didn't hurt no more haha. At first your legs feel sore if you never walked that far. You'll be okay just take a warm bath or hot shower to relax the overworked muscles on your legs. Protein helps.

Drink lots of water too. But don't too eat right before going on the hike. You'll cramp up and it's harder to keep going

That amount of walking for a healthy 20 year old will have no effects other than a little tiredness which should disappear after a nights sleep. You have no need to rest up at all after that. I'm 55 and could do those walks day after day with no special preparation or aftercare whatsoever.

I thought that resting applied more to weight lifting. Anyway I've done more walking than that on several consecutive days with no ill effects.

not much, just make sure u get extra protein if you're worried about losing the muscle you've gained. more protein = less atrophy
