    From a European point of view it was Christopher Columbus. But he was looking for a quick route to the Far east and bumped into it by mistake. That's how the Caribbean Islands came to be called the West Indies.

    HE DIDNT find America, it was actually the native Americans who were there way before he arrived. Tough, he got there accidentally trying to find a different route to Asia perhaps a shortcut. And instead of going to Asia, He ended up in North America.

    He discovered it on accident. He wanted to travel to Asia and he had proposed to take an alternate route and ended up in America
