I need help understanding these two types of documents for immigration.?
Im almost 21 and i want to bring my mother to america and i was reading about bthese two documents
1. I-130, Petition for Alien Relative
2. I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status
so what i want to know is when i file the first form what happens and do i have to file that second form or what because im not really sure if i have to do both . The first form didn't mention anything about that second form so if i file that first one will it be enough to bring my mother here on a visa or will the second one need to be filed also for a green card . My mother is not a citizen here and lives out of the country.

first off you need to be a US citizen over 21 .. with a high income to sponsor
Then you must submit
•Form I-130
•A copy of your birth certificate showing your name and your mother’s name
•A copy of your Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. passport if you were not born in the United States
After Filing Your Petition
You will be notified by USCIS if your Form I-130 petition is approved or denied. If it is approved and your parent is outside the United States, he or she will be notified to go to the local U.S. consulate to complete visa processing.
