Sure - thoughts may happen through electrochemical processes, but what IS a thought?

What IS the CONTENT of a thought? What do we say it is made of or composed of? How do we classify it?

Update:

And what's a good category for this question?

Update 2:

Okay. If a thought is different parts of the brain communicating with each other, *why* do the different parts of the brain communicate with each other as thoughts (particularly as very abstract ones with questionable or absent value), and what determines the direction and details of the thought?

Thought can refer to the ideas or arrangements of ideas that result from thinking, the act of producing thoughts, or the process of producing thoughts. Although thought is a fundamental human activity familiar to everyone, there is no generally accepted agreement as to what thought is or how it is created. Thoughts may or may not arise in the mind from the product of subconscious brain processing.

Because thought underlies many human actions and interactions, understanding its physical and metaphysical origins, processes, and effects has been a longstanding goal of many academic disciplines including psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, artificial intelligence, biology, sociology and cognitive science.

Thinking allows humans to make sense of, interpret, represent or model the world they experience, and to make predictions about that world. It is therefore helpful to an organism with needs, objectives, and desires as it makes plans or otherwise attempts to accomplish those goals.

  • The mind soul spirit are composites of their neurological heredity, nurturing and indoctrination. These define or refine the chemical composition of each human. Thoughts concordant with the host environment are collective cohesive and concurrent. Antithesis of the intrinsic indoctrinated nurtured heredity creates questions, commands, nay demands a reckoning from the host origin or mind spirit soul. Where the cognitive dissonance is entrenched or challenged but unresolved, thoughts arise caused, as you say by unpositive electrical charges causing friction, animosity and angst for the positive intellectual at odds with the eventitudes of its lady recollections. The mind suppresses what it cannot analytically process, but the suppression if agitated by corollary thought subversive thought processes cause a mental disorder resulting in imbalance of electrical magnetic charges firing at the opposing or challengers to their existance. Either the host mind becomes hostile and intolerant to the positive or its opponent. Thus the war of internal conflict arises and the psychological disorder materialising from it.

A thought is an enquiry, a questioning of the status quo within, it is activated when challenged, processed and hopefully resolved inasmuch as the mind is either above any affiliation with either or with one or the other. So a thought transpires, is analysed, examined, processed and filed away into the environmental hub than within. Thoughts are curious things, they are the internal matrix resolving any complex adversaries challenging its balance and peace. Balance of peace and facilitation of activation of any issues is perfection. In the unbalanced mind thoughts become missives, the mind the host and issues nuclear missives to undermine and destroy its fundamental core and balance. This response was from a question about thoughts.

Electromagnetical charges are either positive, or negative. When the latter aggravates the minds stability peace and freedom, either because stress has undermined its ability to protect itself from issues, or unaddressed or unresolved trauma requires prcessing and release.

The mind should be still and clear and peaceful. All thought processes and thinking is the route and path to a clear free peaceful mind.

As I understand it, the brain is a network of connections like the internet. Each computer would be a single neuron. A thought is a specific pattern of neurons firing in specific amounts of electricity. Feelings are chemicals.

Hofstadter: consciousness is a feedback loop.

Basically if something happens repeatedly enough it starts to believe in itself. Consciousness is in effect a kind of static that forms when brain activity iterates thousands of times. Like that nasty noise a microphone makes when it picks up its own output. We are just the nasty noise our brain makes when it picks up its own output.

I don't think we know that. Like music - or beauty -
