Why can't my 11 year old daughter loose weight?

We've been eating healthy (I think) and exercising for about a month, her stomach is the only thing that lost fat. Is there something wrong with the diet?

What she ate today:

Breakfast: no sugar no sodium oatmeal with fruits on top, two oranges, 2 tbs peanut butter (only has one ingredient that is peanuts) cherry tomatoes and one carrot

Lunch: peanut butter jelly sandwich (bread is Jewish rye which has no sugar added, jelly has no sugar, one ingridient peanut butter), honest kids juice box, tomato salad, oranges, celery

Snack: apples and peanut butter

Dinner: corn and steamed vegtables

She exercises on her bike for at least an hour a day, I don't know what else I can do!

Anyone see anything wrong? Why can't she loose weight? I am very sad for her, she is so self conscious and I love her.

It could be because she's 11 years old and GROWING. Bones and muscle weigh more than fat. If you're tracking this sh*t for an 11 year old you have problems. You also aren't feeding her anywhere near enough protein for her to do well. I see no meat, no legumes, no real source of protein aside from a few tablespoons of peanut butter. Frankly, you should be investigated for child abuse.

Also, peanut butter and jelly on RYE? You really are insane.

Tell her to start running, that's a very good diet, but usually running helps more with weight loss than riding a bike. Don't ask me for the source, but, a 4 minute intense workout is more effective than a decent pace hour workout. Tell her to start jogging/running without stopping for a minute, get a break for 30 seconds, repeat until really tired. It helps expand your lungs, and it's a very good cardio workout. Even if she's really tired after 1-2 minutes of running/jogging intensely, that's a good start. You just have to keep building a resistance to it, and sooner or later she will become skinny.

oatmeal with fruits on top, do you mesure how much ?

    two oranges.. after oatmeal ?

If so, fruit should be eaten before a meal or on its own so it doesn't ferment

2 tbs p/ butter.. good fats etc just watch amounts in one day

cherry toms and 1 carrot.. swap for leafy greens, sweet potatoes etc

p/butter jelly sandwich (bread is Jewish rye which has no sugar added.. no point in eating bread for w/loss

jelly has no sugar.. Sugar free jelly normally contains Sweeteners: Aspartame, Acesulfame K.. if so then it's bad

    peanut butter.. 2nd serving

juice box.. fruit is better than juice as you loose the fiber by juicing.

toms salad, oranges, celery.. more toms/ oranges.

apples and peanut butter.. more p/butter and more fruit, so not good

Thats like 5/6 plus portions of fruit, not good

    Dinner.. good

Its 2 pieces of fruit daily and 5 portions of veg (follow the rainbow chart)

    Work out her protein/carbs allowance

    2l filtered water daily, probiotics.

    80% alkaline 20% acidic

I am 13 and I totally recommend running. I am on my schools cross country team, and I am a sprinter in track and field, and it has made me physically stronger than ever. When I first joined my track team, I couldn't even run a 400m (one lap around the track) without getting exhausted to the point of not being able to breathe... So if your daughter starts running and feels this way, just tell her that everyone goes through that. Even Olympic runners started somewhere and they probably got just as tired as average people would get in the beginning of their 'running career'. I hope my answer made sense and good luck.

the word is LOSE not LOOSE.. The question really is what is she eating when you are not around? What you are feeding her is generally healthy
