Why do politicians both democrat and republican support Israel?
If there is one thing that I have noticed from democrats and republicans is that they support or at least claim to stand with Israel. But I don't get it. Why is Israel so important to the US? Why are all US politicians required to support Israel? What do they contribute to the US?

Israel is an island of democracy and Western values surrounded by a sea of Old World autocracy and theocracy ....
...considering our founding principles, why wouldn't the representatives of our government support Israel?

Because Israel is our best friend and the only democratic country in the Middle East.

Democrats don't. They want ot give half of Israel to a group of terrorists that never existed as a country. There is no such thing as a Palestinian.

2. The only democracy in the Middle East...
3. Center of Western Christianity in Jerusalem.
4. An effective Israeli military that saves the US military from direct action in the area.

Israel was kinda, sorta, our idea. Soooo we can't just drop them like a bad habit. Even though they are pretty much a whole bag and a half of d!cks.
