College students: Please tell me more about the course you're studying and what you think of it?

I'm applying for college next year, but I've yet to decide what degree/ course I want to do. I was hoping that you guys could give me some insight into your courses, what career you intend to have, and what you think about your course? What's fun, what's not?

Thank you so much x

My advice, find a practical expertise in a specific field. Think about it like you were to hire somebody for your organization (business, nonprofit, charity, government agency etc..). You'd want them solving your problems, making/saving you money, getting things done and giving you value right away. They better be if you're paying them. If not, who needs em? What kinds of things would you ask them?

    Can you prepare financial statements?

    Can you draft contracts?

Can you keep the network running?

    Can you design machines?

    Can you code?

Can you tell me how to save on taxes?

Can you keep a person's organs working?

What degrees teach you how to do those things? If you're good at math, do something that involves math because that makes you very employable. Science, engineering, finance, accounting. These would be ideal. Yes, I understand if you want to go follow your dreams in something else. Go for it. But having these practical skills will make you all the more employable in the end.

I'm Math and Computer Science. It's challenging, but it's pretty cool for those that can handle it. All the liberal arts majors are trying to figure out how to find jobs, while we have employers giving us job announcements and sending recruiters all the time.
