Old Cartoon about a dog and a coyote who are friends?

I'm not talking about Sam and Ralph. This is a standalone cartoon where the two characters are best friends, but one day the dog beats up the coyote because his owner is around when the coyote is trying to steal sheep. Up until that point, they both kind of treated it as a game, and nobody ever got hurt, but it was made clear what would happen if the coyote showed up while a human was around. The coyote then decides he's going to kill the dog by shooting him, and the dog shows up to meet him, because he kind of feels guilty, and let's the coyote shoot him, only to find out that he was using a wooden gun.
