Debit card question?

So I used my Debit card at Icing (a store targeted for girls) but for some reason their machine wouldn't process my card under debit but it went through under credit (I didn't have to put in my pin...) anyway I checked my mobile app and I don't see the bill. I'm still new at using my card.

The moment you swipe your card, won't it show up on your mobile app right away? or does it take time? The icing store had an old fashioned computer so is that why? Or did it take money out of my dad's account that's connected to my card?
