Which religious group is geographically more widespread, Baha'i or Jehovah's Witnesses?
Has it always been that way? If not, when did it change, and why?
GT, thank you for your answer, and the links. I have heard it said of well-traveled Christians and other non-Baha'is that stated they found Baha'i communities already well established in places "where Christianity has scarcely been heard of." And what with the Baha'i Faith being persecuted and even legally banned, there are Baha'is living in more lands than what is officially stated.
As much as Jehovah's Witnesses voice how they are "persecuted" they never even approach what Baha'is have and still are enduring. Anecdotal perhaps, but I believe the Baha'i Faith may already be the world's most widespread.

The CIA World Factbook reports 0.11% of the world are Baha’is, which in its 2010 estimate equals 7.8 million Baha’is. Their numbers most likely surpassed the Jehovah's Witnesses since that report was published.

I don't think there is much of a difference, statistically. 8.2 million Jehovah's Witnesses in about 240 lands (from the 2016 Yearbook) compared with an estimate of between 7.3 and 7.9 million members of the Baha'i Faith in 236 lands.
It hasn't always been that way, because although the Jehovah's Witnesses started in the U.S.A.in the late 1800's and now has 8.2 million members, the Baha'i Faith took off in the mid 1900's and has reached almost 8 million members in a much shorter period of time.
I found a couple of sites that may be of interest to you, but please note the Baha'i Faith does not appear to have any official statistics.

Likely Jehovah's Witnesses. They number over 8 million in over 100,000 congregations in about 240 lands.
