If you're active do you generally have a faster metabolism compared to someone who is inactive?

It might seem like a dumb question, but I'm just curious. I'd like to increase my metabolism because my metabolism isn't as fast as I'd like it to be. I exercise for a few hours a week and I eat relatively well. I just wish there was a way to develop a super fast metabolism, like my Mum for example. So really is it the more active you are, the faster your metabolism will be? Or does that more so depend on the individual and circumstances.

    It's 80% diet, 20% your physical activity. Sometimes taking stairs instead of an elevator, drinking your coffee rather than with cream, and walking part of the way to work and back will make a difference as well in addition to your exercise routine.

    How do people "know" how fast their metabolism is or isn't? They don't. They make sh!t up. The more muscle you have, the more active you are, the more you eat, the faster it is. It's not diet except in quantity--healthy low cal eaters have slower metabolisms. You can help it by sleeping more, drinking more water, and eating protein.
