My friend is depressed, how can I support her?

Currently I make sure I'm.always happy around her, always truthful and always try my hardest not to mention anything negative from my life. All she does is talk about how sad she is, how her family hate her, how everything is terrible etc, which is kind of expected, but I want to support her best I possibly can, any ideas? Thankyou!

Hi. I have depression so I understand what she's going through. She's probably happy that you're there with her just listening. Try to do small things to cheer her up. Tell her funny stories, take her out for coffee, or just hang and watch movies. Depression is hard to deal with because sometimes it seems like nothing will ever get better and no one likes you. Assure her that you're there for her and that you love and care for her.
