I only break out when I wash my face.?

When I was younger, I never really had a routine for washing my face, and so I often just skipped it. I never got acne or pimples of any sort, and has perfect skin. This summer, when a friend found out I never washed my face, she freaked out over it and made me start a set routine. Ever since, I have started to break out. I tried many different cleansers and nothing has worked. I have stopped doing so since, and the break outs have mostly subsided. I ve always moisturized, but have even done that less since I moved from dry Wisconsin to humid New Zealand. My normal routine is to take my makeup off and clean my face with warm water in the shower, no soap. Is there any reasons I could possibly be breaking out because I was washing my face?I ve been left with scars I am not happy with, and I want to treat my skin right.

You are breaking out because it is a change, and all of the dirt and gunk that was settled into your pores is coming to the surface, causing breakouts.

Do not change your cleansers so much. It takes 30 days for your skin to get used to a new product. So if you have used a cleanser for 2 weeks, and you don't like it and change again, and you use the new one for 2 weeks and don't like it so you change again, it is causing your breakouts rather than helping your skin.

Use a gentle cleanser. You did just fine with doing almost nothing, so use something super gentle. You may even like something like a dove bar soap better. Dove is notorious for being super gentle. Use something very gentle and calming, and use a small amount of it. Use the cleanser in the morning and evening, and follow up with a rich moisturizer. You were ok with using a moisturizer and no cleanser, so you probably have dry skin and would do better with products marketed to dry skin, so you should use a thicker moisturizer than you normally do.

The scaring should go away on its own.

I recently started caring for my skin better, and experienced the exact same thing you did. I talked to one of my friends who is an esthetician, and she said that is was my pores getting cleaned out that is causing some of the acne. She told me to wait it out and use my products for a full 30 days before I decided if I liked them or not, and to only change one product at a time and wait the full 30 days before changing another part of my routine. This advice really helped me. I also found a store that gives free skincare samples, so I was able to get a full 30 days worth of product so I could decide if I liked it or not before I purchased anything.
