OK I'm confused here, God tormented Egypt with 12 plagues to free Israel but allowed the Temple of Solomon to be destroyed, twice?
First by Babylon and much later by Rome, so how's the deal? The same God that made fire and brimstone rain over Sodom and Gomorrah, the same God who brought down the walls of Jericho and then does nothing when His Temple is destroyed, I don't get it.

What's confusing?
One of the major principles of Hebrew Ethical Monotheism is that those with the greatest connection to the divine have the greatest need for care.
(kinda the opposite of Televangelism)
For example --
The High Priest of Israel was the only one able to go into the inner sanctum of the Jerusalem Temple,
and that after a great deal of ritual purification.
The High Priest wore a robe with bells all along the bottom and had a rope tied to his waist.
When he went inside to do the special service,
the other priests stood outside listening to the bells.
If the bells ever stopped, its because he was dead -- that's what the rope was for - to pull him out.
=
Or another example --
Moses was punished to not be able to go into Israel because one time God said "speak to the rock" and he instead hit the rock with a stick.
=
The Temple was destroyed because Israel failed to fully live up to their obligations.
=
Then comes repentance and rebuilding.

God was fulfilling His promises. He said He would make Israel into a great nation. The plagues, Sodom & Gomorrah, and Jericho were all steps in fulfilling that promise. God also promised Israel that if they turned from Him, their enemies would rise up and destroy Israel. Israel didn't listen, turned from God, and their enemies then did rise up and destroy them - which included the temple getting destroyed.

The first destruction was a punishment. Perhaps the second one was intended to show that a building was less important than the faith of the people. We can only guess at reasons because as God himself in "Job" says, "I do what I do and how can the mind of man understand me"

First 10 plagues not 12.
And when you don't obey God's plan for success crap happens! I recently did this Bible lesson on the temple and how it got destroyed
Basically Israel's king god happy with babalons king probably drunk or smoked out
And Israel's king stupidly showed babalons king all the gold in the temple and stuff
And the babalon King decided uh fuc- friendship give me 18 billion in gold
