Tips for dealing with seeing a dead body for the first time?
I'm starting an internship soon with a mortuary and I have to start from the bottom, where I help pick-up & transport bodies. I'm more nervous than anything that I won't be able to handle the sight or the smell, although I do have a strong stomach. What tips would you give to prepare myself?

Dead people who have just died look a lot like live people who are deeply asleep. There is no smell. If someone had been dead for awhile, then you may see various degrees of rigor mortis, color changes, etc. Smell doesn't start for some time. Be matter of fact, realize that this person is someone's loved one and be respectful, but there is no need to be overly concerned.

Just keep in mind that this is your job.
The deceased people will be strangers to you, so if you do have a strong stomach it shouldn't be a problem.
