Why do Muslims think they worship the same god as Jews and Christians when YHWH and Allah have contrasting characteristics and commands?

Theologians think this as well. I was taught that Jews, Christians, and Muslims have the exact same God - in seminary. Why so many do not seem to know this is a mystery to me.

Incorrect interpretations of the same Being.

Muslims *also* believe that those "contrasting characteristics and commands" found in the Jewish and Christian holy books are **alterations to the holy books** by *nefarious Jewish and Christian leaders* who *intentionally made those alterations* to mislead their followers.

In other words: they teach

- The Jewish and Christian holy books are correct except all of the passages that disagree with Islam. All of those contradictory passages have been intentionally altered by wicked Jewish and Christian people.

Because God is God. There isn't a different one for a different religion.

Because it makes them appear to have honor when they don't.

It may be only due to some ignorance or innocence. Nothing else. I think we should stop over thinking or over imagining.

Those gods are the same, kill everyone you do not like and subjugate those you do not want to kill. Pretty straight forward.

I would have said that Allah is closer to the OT depiction of Yahweh than is the Trinitarian God worshipped by most Christians.

They worship the same god as the jews. The christians worship a weird triune god that includes jesus as god, the muslims do not believe in that god.
