Is a machine know as an Iron Lung, still used? How long would a person placed in one typically survive?

They aren't used anymore but there is still a negative pressure ventilator that works somewhat similarly that is still used called a chest cuirass. The cuirass does exactly the same thing but it's portable and only fits over the chest; you don't have to fit your whole body inside. They are much easier to use by an order of magnitude. So iron lungs became obsolete. No reason to maintain a giant metal tube when you can just wear a turtle shell.

It is no longer used, at least in the United States of America. The last person to use one died during a power outage. She was paralyzed by polio. She spent more than 40 years in the device. She graduated high school and college in the device. She wrote several books. It was sad that they could not get the generators going during the outage. That was less than 10 years ago.

as long as the machine was attached to electricity person in it would live until removed or it was unplugged. NO, they are now museum pieces! I am just sad they ever had to be used in first place! Get your kids vaccinated for polio if you never want to see these used again!!
