Is it ok for a 36 year old to give up on relationships?
When you have dated people and it doesn't work out. I'm dealing with the idea that I may never get married or have children. I'm not happy about it but I cannot afford anymore heartbreak. Maybe it's time to just be single for the rest of my life.

It matters not what others think- it's "are you truly comfortable with this" and are you being honest with yourself.
You may meet that person tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, in five years or never. Or you won't. It's what you do when the opportunity presents itself.

Yeah, It´s ok. I´ve been in your very same situation and I found out one thing, pain comes from resistance. If you, for example, are meant to be single or alone and you try to fight against it you just will cause damage and pain to yourself. Just give up, surrender, and you will find true peace.
(And you know, maybe you are lucky and one day someone shows up, just don´t make a big deal out of it)
