I accidentally drove for 8 minutes in second gear instead of drive.?

Today I drove my car, which is an automatic, for about 8 minutes in 2nd gear instead of the regular drive gear. Could that have done some damage to the transmission? Thanks.

You won't have damaged anything, just caused excessive wear and reduced fuel consumption. I'm surprised you didn't immediately notice the high engine revs and low top speed though - were you driving under the influence ?

THAT's liable to cause a lot of damage !

While shagging , do you continually plug on at the same speed and in the same gear, Hopefully ! No ?

Depends more on how fast, if the engine wasn't whining like a banshee you should be OK.

You sure it wasn't just 6 minutes ?

I doubt it. You did waste gas and blow the carbon out of the motor though.

If it is driving ok then likely you have done no damage.

All is not lost - you just have to drive the same distance in reverse to undo the damage.

Wouldnt have damaged the transmission, it would have damaged the engine, but it wouldnt have damaged the engine unless you were going at like 5+ rpms, which in that case you would have noticed, so no, you did no harm
