    Depend on individual interest.

Tell your friends it's not their decision how you live your life any more than it is your decision how they live their lives. A persons background and interests are more important.

Pick a job that will make you happy.

Nursing has more job opportunities, from an earnings perspective engineering wins out.

Nursing will have more steady options during slow economic times in a socialist industry, but engineering will out run nursing in the long run.

Working hours in the engineering fields is predominantly daylight hours, nursing hours are all over the clock.

An observation, I am an electrician, was working in a local hospital (for a contractor), there was a sign in the break area bragging that the hospital was a great place for nurses to work since it has a monthly turn over rate of only 10.5% rather than the industry average of 12%. MONTHLY?

Nursing will be around for the next 1000 years or the next million years.

Both jobs are very desirable right now and should be in the future. Mechanical Engineering would pay more over the long run and would probably be considered less stressful than nursing. I would imagine that nursing would be less boring than engineering since it is a fairly high pace environment.

Can tell the truth easily by going to that country looking for job with his education background.

Why do you need to convince your friends? Why not do a career path that you will enjoy doing instead of letting other people dictate your direction.

A 2014 survey by AACN found that 111,634 students graduated from nursing programs that year, not counting advanced degrees (MS, PhD). The Bureau of Labor Statistics says there are 2.7 million registered nurses working, so the number of retirements might be close to 100,000 per year. The expected increase in positions is about 40,000 per year (BLS again), so it looks like there will be plenty of openings to accommodate all the nurses graduating now.

The BLS gives $68,000 as the median pay of registered nurses, and gives $84,000 as the median pay of mechanical engineers. But the number of new BS grads in mechanical engineering is nearly double the number of expected retirements. There is some modest growth in ME, so most new BS grads will find employment in that field.

The overall picture is that mechanical engineers are higher paid, but they have a harder time finding work.

    I don't know about Europe.

Why is it important to "convince your friends"?
