Why has the modern state of Israel been allowed to extend its borders beyond what was agreed in 1948?

    largely because it's neighbors have spent the better part of the time since then trying to destroy them...and because they were overwhelmingly spanked the one time they took Israel on head-to-head, they've focused on a policy of using gullible patsies along the border to bomb schools, markets and other places where civilians gather...

    ...move the borders, you move the patsies away from your civilians...

    Conquered territory. Israel only occupied those territories after it was attacked by neighbouring states.
