Driving is a responsibility that you're taking into your hands when you enter the drivers seat of a vehicle if you distract yourself with meaningless texting that can wait until you've parked your car you could potentially wreck and harm people around you and yourself.

There is no excuse for this.

On a side note: my dad who drives a mechanics truck was coming home from work one evening and there was a woman swerving around on the road in her car, when my dad got close enough to pass her he noticed that she was reading a BOOK, the only thing that made her pay attention and drive like sheshould was the fact that the truck my dad drives is so big that hitting it would throw her off the road and maybe kill her and it would be all her fault since she swerved into him; She had a BOOK, she was reading while driving and swerving like a drunk driver.

I guess that goes to show that the world is full of idiots.

Drive safe and respect other drivers.

Texting requires you to take your eyes off the road for several seconds. You are essentially driving blind for that several seconds.

When you're enjoying the privilege of driving a car, you have an obligation that you took on voluntarily to operate a dangerous vehicle in a safe manner, and distracting yourself even for a few seconds while driving is dangerous to you and all of the people with whom you're sharing the road.

Research has shown that it is more dangerous to text and drive than it is to drive while intoxicated (DWI). Car and Driver Magazine, as reported by The Washington Times, recently conducted a test to determine how long it took before a driver was able to break while driving 70 miles an hour.

Because you are supposed to concentrate on the road.

i remember when a group of guys did a test to see whether driving completely plastered or texting a driving as more dangerous. Texting delayed their response time significantly more than driving drunk. It just takes a second to look down and miss a brake light.

Imagine Santa flying his sleigh, then texting me (to get my lengthy wish list). If he crashes into a tree, we might not ever get our presents. The same is true of drivers on the freeway.
