Keep taking the drug and if after a couple weeks you see no improvement, go back to the urologist and tell him it is not working. Sounds like you have an infection to me.

Take the meds and follow the directions of your urologist. You stated it was enlarged, but not whether it is swollen, as in prostatitis, or there is cellular growth, as in hypertrophy.

There are some that recommend more frequent ejaculation and/or prostate massage as palliative treatment for BPH.

The surgical treatment of choice for BPH is called TURP. I imagine that someone who has symptomatic BPH at 23 will need TURP at least once in their lifetime.

Your individual prognosis is something that you'd need to discuss with the urologist that you saw. The internet is full of information, but unless you know your diagnosis, you aren't going to know what to search for.

You need to call and talk to your urologist and let him know what is happening.

You are right to be concerned. And you definitely don't want to lose your prostate this early in life. That's very unusual for a man your age to have this kind of issue. It would be wise to find out what is causing this. That usually doesn't happen to men hit their late forties.

Remember your prostate gland is where your semen is produced. Without a prostate gland there is no more ejaculation for you. So get that checked out.

I have had prostatitis twice, and it's not fun.

Call the doctor for another appointment and say the meds are making it worse. Or get a second opinion.
