Whats an endoscopy like?

Ive never had any medical procedure more intense than an MRI before, and im terrified. The idea of a tube going down m throat scares me to death. Whats it like? I know i get some kind of sedation but will i be out completely or just dazed. and if it is just dazed, can i request to be put under? I have anxiety so my over reacting makes sense but oh my god i am terrified

Try to remember that it's to look quickly (it is quick) at the inside lining of your stomach. The sedation definitely helps you to feel relaxed, mentally as well as physically. The only side-effect of it is that you can't just get up and walk home on your own, and someone should take you home after. Worth asking if you can take your music player with you and have your earphones in to listen to what helps. I had it w/out the sedation so I could go on to work after. It's not painful but it's a strange feeling in your stomach, that's all.

Best to talk to the doctor regarding this
