Does my cat have fleas?

I have recently found that there are tiny black spots around the top of my cats eyes close to the ear and I am concerned that it could be signs of fleas, lice, ticks, etc. Should I be worried?

If there are fleas, that isn't usually where you find them. It isn't usually where you find flea poop, either. Many cats get tiny black spots in the area between the ears and eyes. It could be bits of stuff from inside the ears since ears produce a bit of oily discharge--most cats clean it off pretty regularly, it could just be the cat equivalent of freckles.
