Is there any recourse if there a boss breaches confidentiality about a conversation about coworkers?

I had a confidential conversation with my boss about colleagues. I asked before beginning of it was a safe environment and that it would be held in confidence and never leave the room. It was agreed. My boss did talk about what I said to other people and eventually it made it back to the person. That person was then hired to be my immediate boss fully knowing about the conversation. I am stuck working in this situation and I don’t know what to do. I am being silently treated very badly as punishment.

"I had a confidential conversation with my boss about colleagues". That was just as inappropriate as your boss's conversation. How childish can you get thinking that you can talk behind people's back and they won't do the same to you.
