What is the universal age of consent?

I was just watching the Steve Wilkos show and the episode was about a 31 year old woman who was engaged to a 17 year old boy. They've only been together for a month and to make things worse, she used to baby sit him and change his diapers. Isn't this illegal? Shouldn't he be considered a child until he reaches 18?

There is no "universal" age of consent.  Each state sets its own age of consent.

In some areas, age of consent is lower than 18.   On many stars within the US, it is 16 or 17.
In some countries, age of consent is even lower.

I think it should be 25 to be brutally honest.  That's when the brain is rounding out it's development and has half a snowball's chance of making a decent decision.

Age of consent varies by state, there is no universal age of consent. If the age of consent is 16 or 17 in the state they reside in, it's generally going to be legal. The 17 year old may also need parental permission to get married depending on their state law.
