A very interesting question and I had to do some digging to get an answer. Apparently those convicted are spread around prisons in Europe and Africa who have agreed to take international prisoners, and spend their time with domestic prisoners. There was one woman convicted by ICTY ( the tribunal for war crimes in Yugoslavia) who did her sentence in Sweden.

Ratko Mladić has just been sentenced to life imprisonment, but he will stay at the detention centre in The Hague until final sentencing, as he is likely to appeal.

It is a matter for the United Nations to decide, it is their court.

The ICC detention centre is for holding people who have been charged with crimes, not for imprisoning convicted criminals.[2] As such, all detainees are considered innocent until their guilt has been proven.[2] Upon conviction by the ICC, criminals are transferred outside the Netherlands to serve their sentences - presumably in their own countries.
