What is so significant about the location of Germany and the fronts?

I have a WWI test tomorrow. This was on the study guide. The fronts are the Eastern and Western. Please help bc idk the answer Thanks:)

    Germany is a huge center of trade between east and west.

    Look at a map, Germany is in the middle.

    If they fight, it best be a one on one so the enemy is in front of you just like in any fight.. who wants to be swarmed from all sides.

    The last thing Germany needed in both WW1 and WW2 was 'a second front' - fighting on two sides.. but it is exactly what they got.
