Should we have mandatory Sex and Relationships Education in schools?

I agree that these issues should be addressed in schools. They should be part of a person's education. Students should get the opportunity to examine and discuss the concepts of love and sex and conscent and rape and abortion and LGBT issues. Yes, absolutely. When? I think this is a high-school topic. This sort of discussion belongs around the 13-14 year old age group. That's when a teacher can really start bringing concepts of sexuality into the picture, in literature, in science. This is also an age where students can form subjective opinions... hear the facts and make up their own mind, about complex subjects that don't necessarily have a "right" position.

Mandatory? Well, I wouldn't have a problem with that, I don't think that modern-day sexuality is a topic that ought to be left out of education.

One problem to consider is that this is complex stuff, yes, and although we might insist that it be included in the curriculum, many teachers might be less than able to handle these subjects. It's a tough ask...and yes, some teachers will have their own prejudices on aspects of human sexuality.

I think that some pretty strict rules would have to be laid down in terms of how teachers present this subject in general, and what is acceptible in terms of portraying all gender and sexual categories in an honest and respectful way.

It might be one of the toughest subjects that high-school teachers have to navigate, but it cannot be ignored, it's too important.

100% yes. It's a huge societal failing that we don't do this and it's causing real harm and preventable deaths.

Well, we have it now, but it is not mandatory. The parents have the option to say no. But most don't.

Sex and Relationships shouldn't be on no Teenager/Kids mind.

We did before people started pooping out the likes of your generation. Watch 90s TV, they cleaned up Archie Bunker's "wop **** **** kite" by then, but not by much.

That's the time period when we watched The Miracle of Life in the 5th grade https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WsQEUdKHvU By the 2000s, Texas introduced abstinence only sex education and teen pregnancy shot up that year, the 16 year olds who didn't get any knowledge.

I'll stop it at practicum. We don't need to have little sally squirt on the wall in middle school to prove a point about bondage play. But we had almost everything you wanted, overly sensitive people took it away.

1. Rapists are not unaware of how consent works. Besides, many colleges already teach about consent to men and it just comes off as stupid, insulting, and sexist. People are not idiots that never figured this stuff out as they grew up.

2. Safe sex is already taught to children and regular condom usage among men is still garbage. The issue there is not the lack of education, but men and women just not liking condoms. You're not going to make people like a product by telling them to use it.

3. Teaching acceptance of LGBT will lead to agenda driven brainwashing and is therefore not acceptable. And don't even try to pretend that is not what you're driving at there.

Sex education is already in schools. I think some parents might be upset at someone espousing their beliefs on the topics you've mentioned to their children.
