To those of you who slam weights in the gym?
If you can barely manage 1 rep without dropping the weights hard enough for them to break why do you do it, it’s not admirable
BTW I can dumbbell press 50kg for reps (each arm) and then manage to put them down without making a peep

That depends, actual real strength training requires sometimes pushing/pulling one rep maxes, where your max effort gets the movement done and you have nothing left to gently set weights down. It may be part of their training, which you just don't understand because you don't train for max power.

1. The weights don`t break. 2. The floors of these areas are specially built for this, and almost always have thick, hard rubber layers. 3. The most dangerous parts of lifting are the initial lift (can`t get away from that one), and the put down. That`s why they do it. They don`t want to sustain a serious injury for a part of the exercise that is pretty much irrelevant. Think about it!

It's all about attempting to announce to the world "Hey! Look at me! Look what I can do!"
A gym versioln of Stewie's "Mom. Mom. Ma-mah. Ma-mah!"
Just ignore them. They want attention and people to cringe. Not being phased robs them of that.

It's to get attention--sort of like a caveman banging something hard to show off and show off chest muscles or whatever.
Don't start by lifting too much too soon!
