Is everything important or nothing?

Which stance do you take?

Do you believe humans as well as our planet in general make up just as important a piece as any other part of the universe? Are you of the mindset that the universe is in all of us, we are one with everything, etc.? Are we indeed part of something far greater than ourselves?

Or, on the other hand, do you think we don't matter? That we're nothing more than an insignificant cosmic speck in comparison to the vast universe surrounding us? That, should humans, or Earth, or even our entire solar system be wiped off the face of the universe, everything would carry on as if nothing had changed and we might as well have never even existed in the first place?

My views or opinions are almost always based on established facts, such as:

If the size of the known universe were the size of the Earth, the Milky Way galaxy would have a diameter of 185 yards (and be roughly the size of a small football stadium), in which case our planet would be 1 micron.

There are 25,400 microns in an inch.

    This means two things

    1. We are indeed an insignificant cosmic speck in comparison to the vast universe surrounding us.

    2. There must be a God, or a higher power, which makes us relative and of some worth in spite of our diminutive state of existence

As for Trumpians and Republicans. Nothing is more important to them than the worship of Trump. In their eyes Trump is faultless, free of error, without mistake, etc. Which in effect makes him a god worthy of worship.

Note: I personally don't believe Trump is a god. I believe Allah (SWT) is God. That is how they treat him and the status they have given him though.

There will be always important and unimportant things in human life. When you give importance to something, you do it carefully and perfectly and get the appreciation of others.

If you come to know what you are then you may get disappointed and hate your own life. Under this circumstance your mind will say that everything is nothing. But negative feelings are dangerous. This feelings bring negative forces by your side and put you in misery. The point is, all human beings are just robots made of flesh and bones and toys of the spirits for their games.

Is earth important from whose point of view? Importance is relative to who is judging it. Earth is very important to you and me but not to an alien in another galaxy. An anthill is important to an ant but not to me.

  • Neither. Everything is significant, but nothing is irreplaceable.

"Everything" is a very broad brush indeed. Rather like fractals it's a question of size and scale and our own perception of these is limited by our senses and capability for comprehension

So everything may be important in its own context, but some things are more important than others in the overall scheme of things

Importance would not exist without humans. We determine what is important in relationship to ourselves. Importance is an ego-concept.

From the cosmic perspective, we are nothing, of course, at least that we know of. But perhaps paradoxically, to ourselves, we are everything, and both are legit. You can fill you life with such richness that it takes your breath away and you'd need a thousand years to live it all through. That too is legit.

Heads: We are important. We are the casual link between life here and life out there.

Tails: We are little insignificant rays of light; sparks burning for a few moments and gone.

We should be important to each other.. as far as the entire universe is concerned, whether homo sapiens exists or not does not make much of a difference to the Universe. we are a VERY young spices and we are BARELY civilized savages.. our layer or veneer of civilization often disappears VERY quickly, but whether we work WITH each other or whether we fight and try destroy each other is what makes a BIG difference in whether an individual human being survives or not.Survival of the fittest is hardwired into us, but HOW we survive, by fighting or fleeing, depends very much on decisions we may make very quickly. SOME that is instinctively hardwired into as well.Do YOU control your actions or do your instincts control actions?

i believe everything is important, but i am NOT so arrogant and egotistical that i think I can survive without other human beings. Other human beings are important, you HAVE to be able to cooperate if you are going to survive.

Yes we ARE part of something far greater than ourselves. We ARE part of the Universe and PART of the universe is in in all of.. but NONE of us is the ENTIRE Universe.

Infinite diversity in infinite combinations. Each of us is unique and special in some way. We SHOULD matter to EACH OTHER.. Whether the universe cares or not really does not matter that much. You ARE going to die. Th only legacy you believe behind is in the memories of the people whose lives you touched in some way while you were alive., people you may never have met face to face..
