Anyone have some yogurt brand recommendations?

So I've been told by different doctors for years that I should eat Yogurt because of the healthy bacteria in it...but I hate yogurt.

I don't really like the texture but I can live with it, really the problem is the FLAVOR. Every time I've ever eaten yogurt it's always a texture I'm not too fond of plus a faint hint of flavor. Faint.

When I eat food I like it when there's almost overwhelming flavor but seriously, just a LITTLE MORE flavor than the usual would be a vast improvement!

So does anyone have recommendations that don't taste like slightly gritty cream with very little in terms of flavor? I can live with the grit as long as I can actually f***ing taste something.

gritty yogurt is NOT how yogurt should be and I have found that cheap yogurts are like that.

You need a yogurt that has few ingredients. a good yogurt is nothing more than milk, vanilla and sugar..you can add what ever fruit you want...Vanilla yogurt over fresh raspberries, blue berries or sliced strawberries or ANY fresh fruit is delicious.

I eat a lot of yogurt because I have stomach issues and it does help a lot but I prefer it to be the more expensive, simple yogurts, with a simple ingredient list.

I also eat yogurt on my cereal instead of milk..I love cereal that way.

Make a parfait with fruit and granola. It makes the yogurt taste completely different.

Plain yogurt is gross to my palate. It tastes basically like sour fermented milk. I love non-fat yogurt with fruit in it. Non fat and low fat are usually firmer in texture if that's what you're looking for.

  • Buy plain yogurt. Look at the ingredients label. Only buy yogurt that is milk and cultures and nothing else added. Buy whatever fresh fruit you like. Cut it up and add it to the yogurt, or blend it into the yogurt.

Fage is one brand that fits the bill and is available nationally. It comes in no fat, low fat, and full fat. You may find that you prefer one texture over the other.

You don't have to eat yogurt. The bacteria that's in yogurt can also be found in pill form. The probiotics are pretty much the same and there really isn't any evidence to support that one is better than the other or has better results. Your doctor probably also just wants you to have the boost of calcium that yogurt offers, as well.

So drink milk with the probiotic. I eat yogurt here and there, but I drink Good Belly. It's just a probiotic juice blend that's been good to me so far.

EDIT: Also, concerning the price, look at it this way. Any good quality yogurt is going to be roughly $1.50- $2 a pop, and you're supposed to eat one a day, so that's $10.50- $14 a week on yogurt. The pills could be $11-$20+ and usually have 30-90 pills per bottle, so at one a day, you're saving money, really, even if you buy a good-quality probiotic $20 for 30 pills, still better than maxing out at $56+ on a month's worth of yogurt.

I personally prefer savory to sweet. I buy plain yogurt (I like Zoi brand) and I add a clove or two of fresh crushed garlic, fresh lemon juice, dill and salt/pepper.

Plain yogurt is very easy to flavor whether you like savory or sweet. You can add anything like jam, fruit, grated cucumber, granola...

Yogurt isn't grainy/gritty if you buy full-fat yogurt. Only the diet yogurt is like that.
