college too far away?

I want to go to a college that is two hours from home. I would get there with public transport. But I think that it's still too far away. I don't want to have to move away either.

Is it too far?

If it is, there is always a college 20 minutes away from home but I really liked the other one's program better.

Life is full of pluses and minuses. You have to decide what's more important to you. No one can make that decision for you.

I do a 2 hour commute daily on the bus. I leave at 6 am to get to school for a 9 am class every day. My school is 10 miles from my home

Everything thing you will ever do has trade outs of advantages and disadvantages. Actually write out a list out the pros and cons of both schools giving additional weight to items that are very important to you. Compare the list for each school but going through the exercise is more helpful than it might seem.

Welcome to the real world. You have to decide if the 4 hour commute is worth all the time and money to get there and back. I went to a community college (5 miles from my house...not my parents house) for my AA. The I transferred to the State College (75 minutes away) and did this 4 times a week for 3 years. Plus, all of my classes were at night because I worked a 40/hr/wk job. You have to make a goal and set your priorities.

Yes! It is unrealistic and silly to travel four-plus hours a day on public transit to attend college. If you are unwilling or unable to live on campus or very near the college, you should not attend it. If you want to live at home, you should find a school that is within 30 minutes of your home. Even that is going to turn out to be a hassle and you will probably be late to class some days.

"TO FAR" de[pends on you and your parenets, NOT on use, NOT on any one else, and NOT on the coll;ge.

MAke up you, and then stick with it.

Two hours by public transport? People wouldn't commute that long for their job. It's unreasonable. Plus, you wouldn't be close enough to take advantage of the resources that the college provides, such as the library, labs, and extracurricular activities. Move if you want to go to that college. Get a roommate or pay for a dorm.

just be very careful to not miss any transfers if you get caught up in your homework on the ride
