I would wash your hair with shampoo and then use a conditioner and leave it on for about five minutes. While the conditioner is in your hair, very gently use a wide tooth comb and try to comb out the tangles, starting at the ends of your hair and working your way up. Rinse the conditioner out and lightly towel dry your hair. Using a brush or a wide tooth comb, again start at your ends and comb out any knots you still have. I also would recommend either a leave in conditioner a detangling spray (you can buy at any drugstore) to help keep the tangles away.
