Anyone else feel a bit bad for Zuckerberg?

I don't use Facebook anymore and I'm so glad I stopped because wow, the bulls*** that happened with that is amazing but listening to him testify made me wonder if the people asking the questions should've been the ones asking the questions.

I mean, it kind of sounds like Mark was trying to defend himself and Facebook while simultaneously try and explain how Facebook works. Like he was a kid who was trying to help his elders understand how stuff works but they still don't have a clue.

I don't understand everything being said but it seems that whenever Mark tried to explain something he was shot down almost immediately because some members of congress had no clue what he was talking about. Seriously, I remember trying to find the stupid privacy features on Facebook and hated the fact that they were practically hidden from the user but to ask stupid questions of "Is there a way I can know you're sharing my data when I use an app?" is ridiculous.

Yes, you can know. That's what the terms of agreement are for and if you manage to actually find the privacy settings you can adjust things to what you want.

Ugh. Someone throw some kids into the room with congress to help dumb down everything Mark is saying.

Do I feel sorry for someone worth north of $50 Billion dollars, whose product enabled a foreign entity to steal data on 87 million of his 'customers' and use it to influence our election? Hell no, I don't feel sorry at all. I just wish they would have treated him like they did the tobacco companies back in the day. They basically kissed his ****!

Hearings like this are often a sort of a witch hunt. For one, there are often other organizations equally guilty of whatever the person being hauled in is doing/has done. But really it is impractical to haul them all in, so they pick one and use that to broadcast the message out to the rest. Also, many of the congressman don't actually care that much. They need to ask certain questions so that they can go back to their constituents and say they asked the hard questions. It's a dog and pony show, and Mark knows it. Don't feel too bad, the whole things is ridiculous, but he knows it's just a game. Why do you think he wore a suit (something he never does). The way the game is played, is that congress basically says if you come in, let us shame you publicly a bit, when it comes time to impose regulations, if you play your part, we wont make them too harsh (or even impose them at all). Why Mark played along (as many do), is because he wants to have a say in those regulations to as much of a degree as he can. This is the buy in cost for that. Try and answer their dumb questions so that they can save face with their consitutants, and they throw you a bone.

Really congress has had the power and the knowledge to impose regulations for decades now. They are equally culpable in where we ended up.

Granted, I'm no fan of Zuckerberg, he's a tool, but he played their game too well for too long, and they had to do something to cover their own a55. They all understand what is going on, the show is for you.

I don't feel bad. Not suprised that they don't have the right questions but at least we are getting on the path. His money making sceme keeps coming up because it's irresponsible. This is no different than Craigslist and Backpage hosting hookers. No it's not their action or their fault. But they irresponsibly support it. If we can't act responsibly then we'll have to give up freedom and then where is facebook. He needs to clean his sheit up. Funny he finds a way to censor posts that don't suit his ideology but can't figure out how to not be a fake news outlet. He is the source of Russian meddling so far. Did ya catch the fake scare on tainted soda. Facebook morons eat this sheit up and he gets rich off it.
