Maybe what someone values, if another had it they may want to discard it

I did hear it as one man's junk is another man's treasure,

and I'm afraid I got hold of the wrong end of the stick.

Simply means that whilst you might not value an item, somebody else will.

This is parallel to the saying "one person's meat is another person's poison." It means something that is good for someone is the opposite for others, reflecting circumstances, preferences, and other factors determine what one perceives as beneficial or detrimental.

It means that something one person considers useless can be valuable to someone else.

In general: "Where there's muck there's brass"

(A lot of money can be made from business activities that are dirty or unpleasant like recycling trash)

In particular: if I were to throw out my old record collection there is certain to be someone who might be really pleased to find some of them

It means don't throw things that you don't want anymore away,as it may just be what someone else is looking for.
