Will the next referendum in Ireland be to see how many are in favour of a united Ireland?

Almost a year an a half without a government - commonsense decisions being blocked at every move. The people must by NOW have realised the DUP has been holding the country back and is not offering a future.

Why could they not find a woman like Lady Hermon who would STAY even if the country united and offer a far better service to all in the north in any case!

    Unlikely.

A referendum has to be about something the government can actually do.

If the people of EIRE had a poll and said they supported unification, the government couldn't do anything about it. That decision would lie with the UK, and with the government of Northern Ireland.

The British desire to prevent Russian and Chinese naval bases in Belfast and Dublin means that the UK will never relinquish Ulster.

That won't be the choice of the people from southern Ireland. A united Ireland will be the choice of the people from northern Ireland.

Yes, that's the only one that matters and once it happens there has to be one every seven years until it's United that's why the DUP prior to forming the current government asked for guaranties it would be blocked
