Because there is a glitch, I was able to change mine a few weeks ago but now can't. it is one of their many glitches they keep messing with, give it a few more weeks and try it again.
Once you click inside your username try back spacing it out and then type your new name in and save it.

If the name change feature isn't working, then it's a gltich. Make sure you tried to do it by going to the Gear symbol in the top right corner of the screen and selected "Account Info". On the next page you'll see a field for 'nickname'. There have been times when going there to change your username worked, but going into your Answers activity (Edit Preferences>Edit) did not work for changing your Answers nickname.

I checked the Account Info today and you can not change your name but you could add a picture. It does take a few days before the picture will show others but you should be able to see it. I assume it must be a glitch. I would keep checking back to see when it does work again.
The question mark is the default setting for the username. That is why you see it. It should be fixed in the next week. It happens to most people here recently.

Unless glitching, you can. The glitch comes and goes. Note however, it can take 48 hours for the change to go through and every time you try, the 48 hours starts over. Also, it always works better on a desktop.
