I thought it was the summer of Rosé but my friend (Verizon actor) says it the summer of Rum. Summer is almost over. Who is right?

You mean the summer of "roses"? There is no "summer of Rosé " There are summer of Rum festivals in a few cases, so your friend is correct about that. The summer however, is NOT almost over.
