The "Dumb Drivers" are the ones that "Pull Up to the Car In Front of them at Lights."

Smart Drivers leave a 10 feet space in front. So when the "Dumb Driver" stalls out and doesn't move, the Smart Driver and move forward and get over the side.

A saw a line of 20 "Dumb Drivers" at a green light. Lead car stalled.

Second car couldn't move until the "Dumb Driver" could back up.

Third car couldn't move until the "Dumb Driver" could back up.

Forth car couldn't move until the "Dumb Driver" could back up.

...

The twentieth car was wondering why no one was moving.

THAT is what actually causes backups. Which is why I rode a motorcycle, so I would slip beside the "Dumb Drivers."

There are actually several factors that contribute to traffic jams, and its possible for traffic jams to happen even if there are no bad drivers. If the number of cars on a road exceeds a certain amount, it can be enough on its own to cause back ups, no bad drivers needed.

I know. I hate the creeping game where one stops 2-3 car lengths behind the first one then spends the whole cycle of the light moving forward a foot at a time.

Just a warning....you don't want to get too close to a car in case they have a manual transmission. They can sometimes roll back slightly when putting the car into gear.
