I'm curious as to the historical context for corporate offices and white collar desk type jobs having large potted plants in them, fake or real. How did it come about?

It's the garbage bin outside the house. We put all of our garbage from kitchen scraps to office waste into the same bin. When conditions are right, it can get pretty nasty with maggots. Any advice on what might deter flies/maggots in the future?

I want to immigrate to Canada from the U.S. in order to live with my Canadian fiance. However, he cannot afford to sponsor me via a Family Visa. I've been rejected twice from Canadian-based graduate schools and now I want to try to earn a second undergrad degree from a Canadian university in order to both improve my chances of finding my dream job and take the first step toward Canadian immigration. I know about the Experience Class visa and I want to try to get one. But first I need the initial student visa in order to even study in Canada. The problem is the interview I am required to take prior to getting the student visa. If I don't actually plan to return to my home country after I finish my studies, but instead want to try and obtain an experience class visa, what do I tell the immigration officer?

I have one of those fire/water/burglar proof household safes you keep important documents in. It's perfectly good except that I don't have the keys for it, so it's permanently stuck unlocked. I'd like to get rid of it but I don't want it in the trash. Any suggestions?
