You authorized those purchases...period. The fraud was on the back end, where you were planning to give them to some random person...but had nothing to do with the initial transaction.
Let me put this another way. You walk into your bank and take out some cash. Then, once you are outside, someone tells you to give them money for something that turns out to be a scam...is your bank responsible?
The credit card company will investigate and may suspend or terminate your account with them. You lied...do you like to do business with people who lie to you???

IMHO you will not be able to keep the credit. You DID authorize it. Why you fell for such an obvious scam is another thing entirely.

Don't be surprised if they close your account and you can't open one anywhere else.

Honestly it sounds like you willingly bought those gift cards and you regret it now? Your question is at best jumbled and contains very little infornation.
If in the case that you were scammed, your bank will figure it out and most likely remove the charges. But just so you know if you have those cards and they were bought legally they will have you return them. Your credit card is not about to give up over a grand in cash.

Did you receive the gift certificates? You don't get to keep them and not pay for them.
I can imagine how you thought spending $1800 was cheaper than having the bogus charge on your account.
