How to I stop getting computer interference on my FM radio?
The interference is caused my having a laptop computer near to the radio. Yes, move the laptop, but that's not an option, nor is move the radio. Please don't suggest either of those! Also please don't suggest pull the computer mains lead out! That does solve the problem, but I'm trying to preserve the laptop battery when it's used at home! Sorry to be a bit awkward here! What I'm hoping is for ideas, maybe some sort of screen or shield device, but basically anything that works to remove the 'white noise' effect that happens when the radio is on & the laptop is on at the same time. The radio is large & shares a table with the laptop. If either could be moved elsewhere I would, but workable space is at a premium! Thanks for any help.

laptops dont have mains leads - it has a psu connected to the mains and a low voltage lead from that to the laptop
move the psu as far as you can away from the radio (and conversely- move the radio away from the psu) - get an extension lead if necessary
(sounds like you got a crappy psu thats generating more RF than it should - is it the original psu or a replacement? (from ebay? - there is a lot of crap sold on ebay as "replacements" which are nowhere near as good as the original manufacturers (which is why they can be sold so cheap) - this is especially true of laptop batteries which most often are not LI-ION as supplied by the manufacturer but NI-MI)

Wrapping the computer's power supply in aluminum foil may help, but be careful if you do.
Also, some home theater power conditioners let you plug different components into different power banks, but those that do are expensive.

You might try shielding the radio in a foil bag. There is enough RFI, radio frequency interference, getting into the radio from the computer Try running the radio on batteries only. Try unplugging the charge cord from the laptop. Move the radio around to see where it encounters the greatest level of interference and sheild the radio from that source. Try another FM radio, that's odd that a laptop affects it unless they're a foot apart.

Well, you've already demonstrated that the interference is coming from the laptop AC adapter. That's a giant step toward a solution.
If you can plug the laptop AC adapter into an outlet in another part of the room, do so. Regardless, route the laptop power cable as far away from the radio as you can.
Try that, and post an update. I'll check back.
