Should I buy this cheap high mileage car?

I won't say you should or should not buy it. Standard mileage is about 12k-15k per year of age. That car should not have more than about 75K miles. Edmunds says that car with standard mileage should be around $10k-$16k. They're selling it for $7k probably because it would cost them too much money to bring it up to saleable condition - that would make their profit minimal. Whenever you buy a used car, you're buying someone's problem child. You take the risk, no warranty of any kind even if they verbally say there is.

cheap is under a $1000.00, that is not a 'cheap' car at $7000.00, not a very good rep either. For a 'good, cheap' car- look at Toyota Corolla, Camry or Honda with decent engine oil when checked, some bumper pool damage and maybe 10 to 20 years old- good heater, glass good, tire wear even, couple workable door latches- forget the stereo/radio/music boxes. figure maybe a timing belt- figure another $500.00 at least. Ford F150 pickup is another potential good deal.

Way too many miles for a Chrysler product. They have bad transmissions that do not last. Plus they tend to build excessive amounts of sludge in the engine with high miles.

187k in 5 years is a lot of miles. The car might have been a rental car for the first 2 years/ 40,000 miles.
