Q to docs and nurses...?

What are the potential consequences of working with a low-to-high fever.... My employer tells me I need to come in, sick or not :-(. My mom says that fairly strenuous exercise while semi-high fever can have serious repercussions....

She onto something...?

Your body can get so run-down that infections are harder to fight off. This can lead to a far more serious illness.

However, there’s no such thing as a “low to high fever”. If you have a low grade fever, minimal symptoms, and aren’t contagious, one day at work won’t kill you. If you have a high-grade fever, there wouldn’t be a question about going in; you’d be too sick to play on the computer and too sick to even argue about how sick you are. If you’ve had a high-grade fever, meaning over 103°/104°, for more than a few days without relief, you’d be under the care of a medical professional.

Your boss can’t force you to work. You can elect to stay home and accept the disciplinary repercussions. You can try to mitigate the punishment by going to urgent care and getting a note stating that you are too sick to work or are contagious.

I hope you feel better soon.
