Could he be an astronaut?

Update:

Ok, so I saw this old guy at Abu Dhabi Airport in a wheelchair surrounded by airport staff. He was wearing a jacket with an Apollo mission patch on it, he was also wearing a Apollo program hat. Could he be an astronaut or someone who worked on the Apollo program?

It could be the man from the Mall. They sew on such here as that. Or He shops in the back ally markets. You find strange things there on the Black Market.

There was a woman in my community that worked all day on her feet and bragged at her job about faking wheel chair restrictions at a distant airport to get first board ,first exit from planes and carted about the airport on a golf cart.

So who is to say .. is he really an astronaut anyway? (fooled you!)

    Nope.

Saw Mikhail Baryshnikov waiting in line at a dry cleaners, looking pretty ordinary in an old brown overcoat. Quite different from the stage image of one of the most famous male ballet dancer in the world.

So you just cannot tell anything about appearance.

Another possibility is that he could be one of the Apollo mission control crew, or someone who worked on the program in some other capacity.

It took thousands of people to make the space program successful.

    Some are still alive

Possibly, although I'm not aware of any in wheelchairs... Maybe Frank Borman, I know he had some health issues recently - but it may just be a NASA enthusiast...

Sure, or he could have been someone that bought those things. Mission patches and hats are available lots of places.

Every person you see with a red sox hat and jersey has not played for them.

Anybody can buy the patch and jacket.

On the other hand, those flights were 40-50 years ago. It could be one of those astronauts getting old.
