I want to believe in god but I can’t?
I used to be quite religious and thought god would help me with everything, but recently I question a lot of what I never used to think about. An example would be that two gay people love each other and spend their whole lives living happily and spreading their love, yet, they’re commiting sin? It doesn’t make sense, and while I want god to be real, I just can’t accept the teachings of the church on a lot of matters

When you're forced to learn something you're not interested in at a young age you'll naturally become bored of it when you're older. Especially when it concerns the black and white rules of Christianity today. The reason you feel this way is because you're not interested in religion on the whole. It's because you're bored of having to do the same thing over and over again without seeing any results. You want to feel as if you've achieved something through the worship of God. You feel this way because you haven't entered the spiritual path through your own curiosity but because it pushed onto you.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. - Albert Einstein
You need to escape such a tormenting cycle and truly understand for yourself what God is, what He wishes for you and the true definition of religion. What are the underlying common principles of all religions of world. Research and answer this for yourself, break free from the psychological fear placed on you and ignite within you the dwindling flame of curiosity. Question everything and come to your own conclusions. Do not simply sit, listen and accept like a robot. Know your worth. Be courageous. You'll never know the absolute Truth unless you look at something from all sides.

Then George, you should stick to the word of God as it is written and ask for wisdom, knowledge and understanding of his word, now many may disagree with me about that, I don't care, because churches are led by a sucession of commanders, they tell you bits and parts of truth and not the way the word of God dictates.
I have a gay daughter, It was hard for me to accept that, you know, I prayed about it and it came to me to stay out of God's business, that I was not the bedroom police of her and she is not the bedroom police for me.
My Job as a parent was to love her regardless and set a credible example before, to be there when she was hurting or in need. You know, I found it is true, same sex, same problems. I have never turned my daughter away and will gladly introduce anyone to Mr. Winchester for abusing her because she is gay.,
Jesus love you, God is your Heavenly Father, don't be like those who are lost and won't believe in God because they are ashamed of their sexual habits but are not strong enough to turn away from them. You still need God, God hates the sin, yet loves the sinner. Don't turn your back on him, let the dead bury the dead and you let others work out their problems with God. As for your issues, ask him to lead and guide you, to help you.
If I were to dismiss God from my life with all my flaws I would be in terrible shape. Trust and believe.
Everyday,, God is real, your sense of Him may be distorted because we often want to have our cake and eat it too. Just love Him and receive His love for you.. He made you and knows all about you.
Being gay is not the unpardonable sin, disallowing the Holy Spirit to speak through you when we are delivered up to the synagogues of satan is.
Many Gay people are Christian because they know God for themselves. Jesus is the only way to salvation, we sin and fall short all do, but we never fall short of the Love of our Father for his children.

It's a really good thing to question some of the tenets of your faith, (any faith), to see if they stand up under scrutiny. It doesn't mean that ultimately you have to give up your belief in a creator god. You can quite easily fall out with the interpretations that other Christians or sects pass on to you, and still believe.. It's as well to remember that teachings from books like the bible are only guides, and are mostly a very biased and old fashioned set of rules put in place by man, not god. Everything is up for questioning and that's entirely allowable.

well for one thing .. God isnt about your gay fantasies or any other fantasies for that matter.. we exist in this reality and everything about it including us is to glorify Him .. thats how it works .. it doesnt work any other way .. the evidence to that effect is clear ..

The most likely explanation is that god doesn't exist. You need to somehow let go of this and get on with your life.

I'm in the same situation. I want to believe but can't.
The things that God in the bible has promised just don't hold up under scrutiny. You have to already believe they're true regardless of the evidence to believe it.
I require evidence. If I didn't require evidence, there would be no end to the nonsense I could and probably would believe.

Religion is illogical and based on rules meant to tell people what to do. Many people like the false certainty that it offers. It seems you are not one of them. Break free and think for yourself.

The Christian God in particular is so contradictory, I don't know how anybody believes in him. If you really want to remain religious, but can't bring yourself to believe in God, might I suggest Buddhism?
