God punishes by sending people to hell and be tortured for eternity. Satan tortures the souls in Hell, isn't Satan on the same side as God?

It's not just you: many people, including many Christians, have the same idea of Hell.

Hell is NOT portrayed that way in the Bible.

The Bible does NOT describe Satan as ruler of Hell

or as tormentor of souls in Hell.

Rather: the Bible describes Satan as the first "inmate" of Hell, and describes Satan

not inflicting torment in Hell

but, rather, suffering torment in Hell, suffering torment day and night forever and ever.

Satan is an enemy who God will cast into Hell.

Yes, it will be Satan, not God, contrary to atheist claims, who will be torturing souls, but what Satan really wanted was to torture souls from God's throne.

Hell is not Hades or Sheol. And, the use of the words, "the grave," in the Old Testament are figurative. The actual name of Hell is the Lake of Fire.
